Why You Don’t Want To Miss Out On Experiencing The New Scarborough

Source: Community News

Things sure have changed in Scarborough! In recent times the area has suffered from a bit of an image problem - it wasn’t what most people would consider classy or exciting. That, however, was the Scarborough of the past. With the stunning multi-million dollar foreshore redevelopment nearing completion, there’s so many reasons to get in to one of our stunning beachside apartments early and secure yourself a slice of this fantastic coastal lifestyle before word gets out to everyone else.

Stunning Foreshore Redevelopment

The jewel in the crown that is the new Scarborough is undoubtedly the $100 million redevelopment of the foreshore precinct. What was previously an underutilized area on the coast now bristles with fantastic amenities centred around Scarborough Square - an area intended to be the “new heart” of Scarborough beach. There’s music & concerts at the amphitheatre, the public beach pool (complete with lap lanes and a smaller leisure pool geothermically heated to 32C), bike & running paths, grassy areas with uninterrupted ocean views on Sunset Hill ideal for picnicking and the “Snake Pit” recreation area featuring a state-of-the-art skate park, playground, climbing wall and half-court basketball area. Whether you’re young & active, have a young family or are looking to unwind in your later years there’s plenty for everyone to take advantage of.

Amazing Food & Drinks

It used to be pretty slim pickings in Scarborough when it came to finding quality eats and drinks. Not anymore! In addition to the planned food & beverage precinct full of high quality establishments (rather than a “commercial beer-barn-type product” according to redevelopment project director Sean Henriques), there’s already a number of excellent venues in the area.

El Grotto: Think you have to trek all the way into to the city so sip delicious cocktails at a trendy tequila bar? Think again! El Grotto rocks this seaside suburb with a selection of great agave based beverages, authentic mexican street food (think tacos, tostadas & grilled corn) and great live music.

Doric Street Cafe + Kitchen: Opened by a former Wildflower and Rockpool chef and his veteran barista best friend, Doric Street Cafe + Kitchen’s unique blend of Korean-influenced breakfast food and high quality speciality coffee definitely make it one of a kind.

Hardware Store Cafe & Eatery: A favourite amongst Scarborough locals, sit amongst the vintage hardware paraphernalia and chow down on brunchy delights like herbed, crumbed poached eggs or grab a freshly squeezed juice to go and take a stroll along the nearby waterfront. They also do a pop-up restaurant in the evening twice a month!

Exciting Events

Until recently things have been a little sleepy in Scarborough, but that’s set to change with an exciting lineup of events centred around the amphitheater and beachfront. Thursday evenings in summer see the amphitheater come to life with the Scarborough Sunset Markets, the Sunset Wine festival in February floods The Esplanade with a variety of locally produced craft wine, beer & cider, great food and music and the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships are being held on Scarborough Beach this year to name just a few.

Buy Now Before Word Gets Out

As you can see, Scarborough’s boring days are long gone and the area is on the cusp of a spectacular rebirth as a lifestyle and cultural hub on Perth’s northern shores.
